Seeley Safari Shirt - Summer
The Seeley safari jacket named after Alice Seeley, Lady Harris, (1870-1970) a one time Frome resident, a missionary and early documentary photographer in Congo Free State. Her photographs of maimed and mutilated Congolese were crucial in raising international awareness of human rights abuses, inflicted by agents of Leopold II, King of the Belgians, in the rush for rubber.
Tweed or velvet belted safari jacket for women with two deep front pockets and two breast pockets with hand-stitched leather trim. Lined with Dutch wax batik, vintage buttons and pleated vent behind. Pair it with the Markham trousers or Kingsley skirt to make a fine travel suit.
